Reassembling

I finally got this thing started, at a 12:10 on a Tuesday night. I'm starting this record of my trip a little early, but I'm using it as a good-luck charm I guess. I feel like that if I write about it, I'll have to be able to go.

I probably shouldn't be worried. But when it comes to international travel, I'm always worried. It seems like there's a million things to go wrong and if one does, you're out of commission. I still have no visa, no plane ticket, no passport, no shots; sounds like I'm pretty far behind. But I'm actually on top of everything, the procrastination isn't my fault for once (and I mean just this one time for sure).

I'm waiting for Kansai to send me my acceptance packet, which includes my certificate of eligibility and the dates of departure and arrival. When I get that, I can go to Atlanta to the Japanese Consulate, who (hopefully) still have my passport since I gave it to them several weeks ago, and they will issue my visa without a 3-week delay or something. I can use the dates to get my plane ticket, and kiss 1500$+ goodbye. And I'm putting off the shots because I feel like my chances of catching Japanese encephalitis are pretty low in Osaka, but I'll end up getting them, better safe than dying over there.

I still have to finish my ISIC (International Student Identity Card), which means just printing out a picture and taping it on there, and I still have to send my camera off to get fixed. So those million little things that can go wrong? Well I guess they can't go wrong if I haven't done any of them yet.

Oh yeah, I'm listening to K'naan now. That's helping. I'm definitely going to need that new iPod before I leave. Mine is way beyond it's last legs. And definitely needing some updating.
